Ondo ends percentage payment —Ondo NULGE

President, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Ondo state chapter, Comrade Bola Taiwo has disclosed that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has fulfilled his promise of offsetting salary arrears and put an end to percentage salaries in the state before he leaves office.

The union president noted that there’s no more payment of percentage salaries to local government workers since the beginning of this year.

He made the call while speaking with newsmen immediately after the State leadership and State Executive Council, (SEC) meeting of the union at its state Secretariat in Akure.

Comrade Bola explained that Governor Akeredolu in view of his love for NULGE members, tasked officials of the local government to intensify efforts at embarking on revenue generation drive.

The President, who commended Akeredolu for giving the welfare of workers priority, noted that the governor lived to his words during his inauguration that he would not owe workers’ salaries.

He disclosed that Akeredolu had paid all the backlog of eight months salaries he inherited from the immediate past administration.

Speaking on decline in the rate of projects being carried out by local governments in the state,  Taiwo said the low allocation given to the state from the Federation Account has affected the fund allocated for projects.

He disclosed that N10m was released to each local council for execution of projects.

According to him, local councils embarked on road construction in the rural areas, particularly farmsteads.
