Ahead of Ondo State Football Association election (FA), former Chairman of Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Otunba Akinsola Akinbobola has said his aim contesting for the number one football seat was to set agenda for aggressive grassroots football development across the nooks and crannies of the state.
He stated this in a chat with Sporting Hope in Akure, the state capital.
The former Special Adviser on Sports to an ex-governor of the state said he will ensure the inclusiveness of all the stakeholders in his agenda to revive the state’s football which he said had gone down the drain over the years.
He said; having bowed to the pressure of more that two years, within and outside the state, I’m ready to put my Hat into the ring to rescue the state’s football development which had gone down the drain.
“To achieve this, I will ensure I bring all the football stakeholders in the state together to form an agenda for the accelerating football development, which will be in tandem with the southwest football agenda and national agenda, this will be achievable under the leadership of Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye.
“I’m not unaware that Ondo State was the only Southwest state that did not join other states in the DAWN commission partnership, God willing, I will ensure I bring Ondo State back to the center of football development in Western zone and at the national level.
“As a secretary of Western Nigerian Football Forum, and someone who is belong to the core leadership of the football confraternity, I feel pained, that in the last five years that Ondo State football has gone down, instead of ascending crescendo from where I left it as Chairman of the Ondo State Football Agency.
“I must say this, that enough is enough for football stakeholders in the state to be at the back yard in the football activities in the country and it’s dividends.
“With the help of God and all the stakeholders, the lost glory of the state shall return in folds.
“Without sounding immodesty, as a former Special Adviser on Sports to former governor of the state and former Chairman of the state football Agency, I have the courage, capability and connection both at the state and at the national level to return the state back to where it’s really belongs among the comity of states in the football development.”
Ondo State electoral committee had scheduled election into the council Chairmanship for today, while the state Chairmanship election and it’s board would hold next week Wednesday 10, 2021.
