Ondo FA set for elections as Sports commissioner sues for peace

All is now set for  Elections into the board of the Ondo State Football Association following the resolutions at the Annual General Assembly which was held  in Akure.

Rising from the Assembly held at the Police Officers Mess in Akure and presided over by the state FA chairman Otunba Dele Ajayi, the Congress discussed and resolved on some issues bothering on the Elections.

The Congress agreed that the Local  Government football council elections should usher in  the board elections at the state level after several hours of deliberations to  determine the delegates to vote at the Local level.

The meeting agreed that the delegates at local level will include the Chairman. Coaches, Referees,Local Government Desk officers and Security while twenty- four delegates will be privileged to vote at the State level.

Earlier the Electoral and appeals committee that were  previously inaugurated  were officially sworn-in during the Congress after some changes were effected while they went ahead to supervise the voting process that determined the delegates for the local football council.

The Electoral committee include Barrister Tolu Abisagbo,Barrister Ade Ajakaiye,Mrs Joke Orimaye,Chief Olakiigbe Gabriel, Dr Babatunde John Akinbinu,Dr Oladokun and the secretary, Alex Daodu.

The Appeals Committee comprises of Barrister Olusola Oke,Victor Amuda,Olokungboye Tope,Barrister Adeyanju,Tope Ademojimi,Afolabi Ogunyamodi while the Daodu Alex will also serve as the secretary.

Meanwhile, three names were put on stand-by and they include Olusegun Taiwo,Barrister Ajabaloku Adeyanju and Akinseloyin Lekan,

It was agreed at the Assembly that the Elections into the local Government football council should take place at the three senatorial districts on or before January 28,2019 while the electoral committee will announce the Elections into the board at the state level.

Meanwhile the Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development , Mr Saka Yusuf Ogunleye has  appealed to the board members to embrace peace for the sake of association to move forward in the State.

Speaking at the Annual General Assembly of the State Football Association, the commissioner urged the Congress to follow the resolutions of the NFF organized football stakeholders meeting which took place in the state few weeks back saying  the various issues on ground had been previously addressed by the football hierarchy from Abuja.

The AGA afforded the football stakeholders in the state to settle their differences with the  board members meeting for the first time since the intervention of the Nigeria Football Federation in the crisis that engulfed the association.

The commissioner went further to tell the football Assembly to follow strictly their statues both at the State and National levels insisting that they should make amendments wherever necessary so as to allow room for football development at the highest peak.

While responding on behalf of the FA the Chairman Otunba Dele Ajayi thanked the Commissioner for his concerns while assuring a one football family in the State henceforth, saying all is now set for a fresh elections into the board.
