Governor Luck Aiyedatiwa has assured the people of Ondo State that with the rainy season coming to an end, contractors would actively resume and complete the various ongoing road projects very soon, assuring that his administration will not abandon any of the ongoing projects in the state.
He equally promised the prompt execution of more visible projects, which he said are currently in the pipeline.
The Governor, who is the flagbearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the November 16 gubernatorial election in the State, took his message to Akure North Local Government Area on Monday.
The campaign visit featured a significant stopover at the palace of the Ogbolu of Itaogbolu, Oba Idowu Faborode, where the monarch gave his royal blessings and expressed support for Aiyedatiwa’s election bid.
Welcoming the Governor, Oba Faborode assured him of the council area’s loyalty, pledging to rally the community behind his administration.
However, the traditional ruler highlighted the need for more infrastructural projects, specifically emphasising the development of roads and other critical amenities.
“Our community needs more infrastructural support, we trust that with your re-election, we will see greater advancements,” the Oba said.
Responding to the monarch’s requests, Governor Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the vital role of peace at the grassroots in the overall stability of the state.
“The tranquillity we enjoy across the state is a result of the peace maintained in various local governments, a duty our revered traditional rulers diligently uphold,” he said.
He stressed that the safety and security of the people, particularly farmers, remain a cornerstone of his administration.
“We have prioritised security, especially in farming communities, to ensure that our farmers can work on their lands without fear,” Aiyedatiwa added.
Regarding the infrastructure needs raised by Oba Faborode, the Governor highlighted ongoing efforts. “We are working on rural-urban road networks, particularly those that connect farming communities to urban markets, this initiative aims to ease the transportation of food products, bolstering our state’s agricultural sector. If elected, I am committed to expanding these projects and enhancing rural development.”
The campaign train moved on to a gathering with party supporters in Itaogbolu, where Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed heartfelt gratitude for the community’s unwavering support. “The affection and dedication you have shown towards my administration fuel our determination to serve you better, your trust and backing are invaluable as we strive for a more prosperous Ondo State,” he said.
Also, it was a carnival-like atmosphere in Iju, where Governor Aiyedatiwa addressed an excited crowd of supporters, emphasising the unity and shared vision that resonate across the state.
“Your unwavering support and desire for the continuation of our administration’s good work echo everywhere we go. We have achieved so much together, and I am committed to doing even more for the development of our beloved state, if given another mandate,” he said.
At Igoba, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa addressed an enthusiastic crowd of party supporters, urging them to be vigilant and committed in the upcoming election.
“Make sure you secure your voter’s card and use it wisely on election day. Stay with your votes until every single one is counted,” he said.
The Governor also called for calm and peaceful conduct throughout the electoral process, reminding everyone that the strength of democracy lies in a united and law-abiding citizenry.
He further assured the people that with the rainy season coming to an end, contractors would actively resume and complete the ongoing road project very soon, promising visible progress in the days ahead.
Kolawole Ologede, the State House of Assembly member representing Akure North, called on the people of the council area to give their full support to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the upcoming election.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa has shown genuine commitment to the development of Akure North and the entire state, we cannot afford to lose this momentum. I urge everyone here to vote for continuity and ensure that Aiyedatiwa remains in office to keep transforming our communities for the better,” he said.
Adding momentum to the rally, Ebenezer Alabi, a former Akure North chairman under the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who recently defected to the APC, spoke about his reasons for aligning with the ruling party, citing its progressive governance and Aiyedatiwa’s proven leadership.
“I have seen first-hand the impact of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration. The achievements in various sectors, from security to infrastructure, are undeniable, and I am proud to support this vision.”
