The Ondo State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr Sunday Olajide, has reiterated the commitment of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration to achieving modern physical planning and urban development in major cities and towns across the state.
Olajide stated this during a special meeting with Directors, Deputy Directors, and Area Town Planning Officers from all 18 Local Government Areas, held at the Ministry’s Conference Hall in AKure.
He emphasised that the present administration would continue to enforce town planning laws, rules, and regulations guiding building construction, as part of efforts to actualise its urban renewal agenda across the state.
In a statement by Mr Williams Oni
Director of Information of the Ministry, the Commissioner further assured the officers that the government remained committed to providing a conducive working environment and necessary tools within available resources, to ensure quality service delivery and enhance productivity.
He charged the officers to redouble their efforts in the prompt processing of building permit applications and land use clearance, regular monitoring of sites to prevent contraventions and illegal structures, and strict enforcement of approved building specifications.

Olajide also warned against indolence, absenteeism without permission, and fraudulent practices that could tarnish the image of the Ministry.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Chief Oluwagbenga Akingbasote, commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for releasing funds to support the Ministry’s operations. He urged staff to reciprocate the government’s gesture by rededicating themselves to duty and working harder to generate more revenue for the state.
