Ondo govt rescues stranded nursing mother

By Josephine Oguntoyinbo

The Ondo State Government has, once again, rescued a stranded nursing mother found roaming the streets of Akure, the state capital.

The woman, simply identified as Omolara, was said to be moving aimlessly and stopping intermittently at various points across the city.

Acting on a tip-off to the Special Adviser on Women Affairs, Bosede Osamaye, officials from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, led by the Director of Social Welfare, Mr Oyegunwa, traced the woman and her baby to the FRSC Headquarters along the Akure–Ilesa Expressway. She was immediately taken to a rehabilitation home.

According to available information, the nursing mother, who hails from Ogun State, had voluntarily boarded a vehicle from Lagos to Akure, seemingly without any clear destination or purpose.

Confirming the development, the Special Adviser to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Women Affairs, Osamaye, said the woman would be given prompt medical attention.

She added that all necessary follow-up procedures would be carried out to ensure the woman regains a stable and normal life.

While expressing gratitude to the former Special Adviser on Gender Matters, Chief Olamide Falana, for the tip-off, Osamaye appealed to members of the public to continue providing the ministry with useful information that could help ensure no vulnerable group is left behind, emphasising the inclusive governance drive of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Osamaye also disclosed that the previously rescued nursing mother, Iromidayo Millionaire, is doing well and receiving continued support.
