Ondo govt tasks presidential health fellows on sectoral improvement

The Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Health, Prof. Simidele Odimayo has stressed the need for the Presidential National Health Fellows (NHF) in the state work towards ensuring that the ideal health sector is achieved in the state.

He spoke during an engagement meeting of the Presidential NHF with the state health sector leadership in Akure on Monday.
He noted that it is important that they put in their best in order to achieve the best for residents of the state.
While congratulating them for the opportunity given to them to make impact, he stated that they are expected to collaborate with stakeholders to deliver their desire in the sector.
He advised that they work without fear, favour or intimidation adding that they work with the best of their knowledge.
Speaking further, he said; “You will work with people to lift the sector. You are expected to collaborate with other fellows across the country to achieve success in the health sector.
“You should give the state your observation so as to restrategise to improve on what obtains in the sector.”
In his welcome address, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Niran Ikuomola while welcoming the fellows to the state noted that they have enormous responsibilities ahead of them praying for strength to perform excellently.
He stressed the need to present their report to the state for the enhancement of the sector calling for synergy and partnership in improving the system.
While assuring of the Ministry’s readiness to work with them in promoting their success, he said; “you must give your report objectively. Give us what will improve the system, do not colour it with your subjective feelings.”
State Coordinator, the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Dele David while congratulating the state Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa for having the fellows on ground called for commitment from them.
“You are in the state for a purpose and your main goal should be to achieve the purpose. You must not run away from duty you must be committed to your work.”
PHC Coordinator, Akure South, Dr. Adeyemi Osowe stressed the need for them to make the state proud by being dedicated to the task ahead of them.
Representative of the Director-General, Ondo State Contributory Health Commission, Dr. Ekundayo Oluwole assured them of the commission’s willingness to ensure that they have a good health insurance cover to cater for their health.
Director, Health Planning, Research and Statistics, Dr. Richard Adesoji stated that the meeting aimed at onboarding the 18 Local Government areas NHF to the state health sector and also understand the working relationship of the NHF with the health sector among others.
Representative of the Presidential NHF, Paul Owoyemi reaffirmed the commitment of the fellows to the course saying “with our strength, training and support from government, we are more than equal to the task.”
