Ondo Govt to distribute 1,000 sanitary pads to mark 2025 World Menstrual Hygiene Day

To mark the 2025 World Menstrual Hygiene Day, the Ondo State Ministry of Health is set to distribute about 1,000 sanitary pads to students in selected secondary schools across the state on Wednesday.

The programme tagged “Together for a Period Friendly World” is supported by Ondo State Contributory Health Commission, Rotary Club of Akure-Metro, D9126, Broader accessible-Health Initiatives, National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) , Association of Public Health Phyicians, Lions Akure Millennium Specialty Club, Girls2Women, WiseVirgins, GirlsOn, Kids & Teens Resource Centre and MSI Nigeria.

The event will take place at the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives’ office on Igbatoro Road, Akure.

According to the Director of Family Health, Dr. Isaac Aladeniyi, the programme will provide young girls with the opportunity to learn the best ways to care for themselves during their menstrual periods and where to seek help if needed.
