Ondo:  Group blames leaders for PDP’S defeat

Council of Young Leaders in Ondo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the leaders of the party in the State responsible for the party’s loss in the just concluded Akure North/ South Federal Constituency bye-election.

The council described the unfortunate loss of the bye-election by the PDP, despite recording maximum victory within the same Constituency in 2019 and 2020 as serious concern.

This was contained in a communique issued after the meeting of the Council held at the party’s secretariat in Akure, the State capital

In the communique, the council blamed leaders in the party who have positioned themselves to keep funds meant to prosecute elections in the hope of victory for the party to spite themselves ,while youth do all the work required to ensure the party emerge victorious against all odds.

The council in the communique warned party’s leaders to stop milking aspirants, stressing that anyone found culprit will be publicly dragged irrespective of who the person is.

The council resolved that a truth and reconciliation committee be set up to meet leaders of the party as a leadership summit be organized to bring leaders up to date with what is obtainable in the 21st Century political system.

In the communique, it was resolved that the youths of the party across board go back to their units and wards to pick up leadership roles at the grassroot level, warning members of the party to shun pig-fights on social media and concentrate on getting power from the opposition.

It added that the ultimate goal of the party members should be to win the general election and not just pick up party tickets as the State Working Committee (SWC) should always gives its allegiance to the party and not individuals.

The council further resolved that the National Secretariat of the party should immediately look into the affairs of the PDP in the State without bias in correcting the injustices within the system fuelled by some leaders in their bid to hold on to their meal tickets against the present and future success of the party.
