A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Oladipupo Okeyomi, has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, describing him as a listening and humble leader who is not carried away by the alure of power.

Okeyomi, who is Chairman of Ondo Solidarity Forum (OSF), a frontline group within the state’s APC, stated this in a statement he issued at the weekend, calling on all stakeholders in the party to ensure that Aiyedatiwa come tops in the coming gubernatorial primary election.

The chairman of the forum made a remark that with ground-breaking achievements recorded by Aiyedatiwa within the short period of assuming office as governor, the other contenders in the race to secure the party’s ticket are no match for him.

“It must be given to Governor Aiyedatiwa that he is a humble and listening leader, one who is not in any way carried away by the alure of power. On every occasion I called him on phone, he picked, chatting pleasantly with me like a nextdoor neighbour.

“In less than two months in office, he has exceeded the expectations of the people as he first set about offsetting backlog of unpaid salaries and putting all government contractors on their toes, to deliver effectively, and to time.

“The masses actually love him and want him to continue as governor beyond the tenure of his boss, the late former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu; and the APC must not fritter away this golden opportunity as it should give the governorship ticket to Aiyedatiwa by consensus,” he admonished.

Okeyomi further commended the governor on the recent dissolution of the state’s cabinet, describing it as well-timed, to enable him recruit needed hands fit enough to achieve his planned transformation.

“We are all living witnesses to the disappointing roles played by some of the cabinet members when our late former governor seriously ailed, and such characters could only end up playing Judas and frustrating the efforts of the new governor; if allowed to remain in the cabinet,” he appraised.

In addition, he said all the Ondo State indigenes in the Diaspora were preparing to launch what he termed LACO FOOT SOLDIER, to mobilise for Aiyedatiwa election, come November, this year.

Okeyomi meanwhile applauded the appointment of a former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, Chief Olayide Adelami, as Deputy Governor, describing Adelami as highly complementary, going by his rich work background in the public sector.
