Ondo State Government has promised to give health facilities across the State the needed facelifts to further ensure qualitative health care delivery.
The State Commissioner for Health,Dr Banji Ajaka gave the assurance when he led the State Principal health officers to a meeting with the Members of the State House of Assembly held at the Assembly complex in Akure.
According to him, there are ongoing renovation of health facilities in the State, noting that no stone would be left unturned improve the sector.
He informed the lawmakers that the collation of health workers have been carried out as directed by the State Governor to bridge the gap of the braindrain of medical personnel through recruitment .
The Commissioner posited that the brain-drain of health workers is not limited to the State alone, and was due to the coronavirus pandemic which made the advanced countries to seek for the services of health workers.
While responding to the rejection of recent victims of gunshots in Ondo town robbery, he promised that proper investigation will be carried out and if found to be true, the erring officers will be properly sanctioned.
He affirmed that no law stipulated that gunshot victims and armed robbery suspects should not be treated or attended to before investigation will be carried out.
Ajaka assured that the State government will continue to train and re -train the health workers on proper ways to attend to patients and emergency preparedness.
In his remarks, the Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun informed that the meeting became imperative to have first hand information on the challenges facing the sector as well as giving proper advice on the way forward.
He advised the Ministry that emergency responses should be continuum to save lives while drastic steps be taken to stop the braindrain of medical personnels and also recruit new hands into the system.
The Speaker assured that the House will continue to give legislative backings to the Ministry to ensure the optimum service delivery in the sector.
