Ondo: INEC distributes sensitive election materials

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Ondo State, has distributed the sensitive materials for Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

The distribution started under tight security at the Central Bank of Nigeria in the State and it was conducted in the presence of political party representatives, journalists and security agents.

The materials was distributed to INEC’s local government offices across the state.

Also, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation Systems (BVAS) as part of the sensitive materials was distributed at the INEC office, while other distributed sensitive materials at the CBN include ballot papers, result sheets, register sheets among others.

Distributing the materials, the Acting Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Oyekola Oyelami, said the distribution was part of the process of 2023 general election in the state.

Oyelami, who said that BVAS was equally distributed, explained that the materials would be led by the security agencies to various local governments.

The Acting REC, who is also the Administrative Secretary of the Commission said the commission have enough fuel and vehicles to take the materials to all various Local Government Area of the state. 

“We have enough fuel and vehicles to take the materials to the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State. 

“So, as we speak, our electoral officers are at the local governments to receive the materials.

“So far, so good, we are ready to go with the election on February 25.

Speaking with newsmen, the State Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Prince Olaoluwa Adesanya, expressed satisfaction with the distribution process of the sensitive materials to the local government offices of the Commission.

Adesanya, who is also State Chairman of Action Peoples Party (APP), affirmed confidence in INEC’s assurance to ensure the materials arrive the polling units across all local councils before the commencement of the voting at 8:30am on the election day.

“We commend the INEC for what it has done and we are ready to support the Commission for the success of the election,” he said
