Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju yesterday tasked journalists in the state to verify news before publishing.
Ademola-Olateju gave the charge while hosting media practitioners in Akure.
The Commissioner while familiarizing herself with journalists said the state needs them now more than ever.
While noting that she’s a journalist before her appointment as a Commissioner, Ademola-Olateju said she’s open to new ideas.
She enjoined journalists to cooperate with government and show understanding in order to make the state a better place.
While stressing the relevance of newsmen, she noted that they are the link between the government and the public.
The Information Commissioner pledged her support at ensuring that the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Press Centre, is hospitable for members.
While commenting on the attack at an construction site in Owo on Wednesday night, she said she’s glad no life was lost to the attack.
