The Ondo State Judiciary has officially commenced activities commemorating its 2025/2026 Legal Year.
The series of events began on Friday, October 24, 2025, with a Jumat Service at the Akure Central Mosque, where the Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Yayi-Akorede, expressed gratitude to the judiciary, led by the Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Olusegun Odusola, for their consistent recognition of the Muslim community in the state.
In his sermon, Yayi-Akorede emphasised the judiciary’s vital role in upholding democracy, safeguarding human rights, and ensuring true justice in society.
He also urged judicial officers to extend compassion to the vulnerable, using their positions and resources to uplift the less privileged as an act of service pleasing to God.
The commemorative activities continued on Saturday, October 26, with a health walk held at the State High Court premises in Akure.
The event featured the participation of judges, magistrates, members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and judiciary staff.
According to the official announcement, the celebrations will continue on Monday, October 27, 2025, with a special thanksgiving service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Regional Headquarters, Oke-Ijebu, Akure.
The inter-faith ceremonies are designed to usher in the new legal year with prayers, thanksgiving and divine supplication for wisdom and integrity in the judiciary’s constitutional duties.
Following the church service, Justice Olusegun Odusola will inspect the Guard of Honour between 12:15 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. at the State High Court premises, Akure, after which a special court session will be held at Court 1, High Court of Justice, Akure, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
