Ondo launches clean city project

Ondo State Government has launched an ambitious Clean City and Beautification Project in order to transform the environment sector of the state.

Speaking on the project on Monday in Akure, Special Adviser on Environment, Dr. Adeyemi Olayemi emphasized the governor’s vision for a sustainable, beautiful, and adaptable environment.

According to him, it aimed at enhancing the aesthetic appeal of cities and towns, promote hygiene and sanitation, empower environmental officials, engage stakeholders and communities, as well as foster a culture of environmental responsibility.

He explained that government has put in place measures to improve the environment including implementation of mandatory beautification guidelines for property owners, ensuring clear and clean public spaces, promoting horticultural growth through greening projects, reforming waste management practices, and conducting community sensitization programs.

Dr. Olayemi while leading environmental officials to clean up Akure, the state capital urged residents to comply with beautification guidelines calling for their support in creating a greener, cleaner, and more beautiful Ondo State.

However, he added that the initiative demonstrates the state government’s commitment to environmental sustainability, economic growth, and improved quality of life for citizens.
