Residents of Onisere, commuters, and motorists plying the Asejire–Mile 13 axis in Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo State have heaved a sigh of relief and commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as the contractor handling the road project has now returned to the construction site.

Speaking in Akure, the lawmaker representing Odigbo Constituency I at the Ondo State House of Assembly,Olatunji Ifabiyi, lauded the governor over the development.

Ifabiyi, who explained that the Asejire–Mile 13 road project was awarded under the administration of the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, described the Aiyedatiwa’s move as a major relief for people and motorists using the route.

The lawmaker, while emphasising the critical role of well-constructed roads in facilitating economic activities and improving access to essential services, commended the state government’s unwavering commitment to infrastructural development across the three senatorial districts of the state.

He stressed that upon completion, the road would significantly enhance the transportation of raw materials, semi-finished, and finished products, thereby boosting trade and attracting more investors to the region.

This development follows governor’s directive issued a few weeks ago, instructing contractors handling various road projects across the state to return to their sites immediately.

In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Dr. Aiyedatiwa also approved the rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of 60 kilometres of roads across the state within the next three months.

It was also revealed that governor, who promised that all ongoing infrastructural projects in the state would be completed, directed the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to mobilise contractors back to site to expedite the projects’ completion.
