A member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Abiola Olapado, has called on stakeholders to invest more on education and ensure that youths are educated.
Oladapo representing Ondo West constituency 2 made the call during a visit to venues of summer lesson he organised for students in his constituency.
The lawmaker also distributed books and other writing materials to students in his constituency.
According to Oladapo, the free summer lesson for students of both primary and secondary schools across all the wards of Ondo West Constituency 11 was to encourage youths to take education as an important tool for development.
He said, “I just came around to encourage and support the initiative that I started a month ago to develop the students’ educational background. Students too will benefit from our scholarship programmes.
“Over one thousand students across the constituency benefited from the summer lesson programme. Learning aids were also given to them. This is just a motivation for the students, they must take their studies serious.”
Oladapo said, “I believe education is the most important tool you can receive which can bring you success in society today. Education lessens the challenges you would face in life.
“The more knowledge you gain, the more opportunities would open up to allow individuals achieve better possibilities in career and personal growth.
“I also believe education is important because it helps us develop a unique perspective of looking at life. Education has played a major role for all individuals in the society. It has allowed the community to succeed both socially and economically by enabling it to develop common culture and values.”
Olapado urged parents to do everything possible to educate their children.
He, however, called for more government investment in education, adding that corporate and private individuals should also join hands with the government to move the sector forward.
