The Chairman of Ondo East Local Government, Hon. Joshua Ogunduyilemi, has charged security agencies in the area to intensify efforts towards eliminating security threats, as the nation continues to grapple with persistent and complex security challenges.
He made the call while speaking with The Hope in Bolorunduro, the headquarters of the council.
Ogunduyilemi stressed the importance of having capable and well-equipped security operatives to safeguard democracy and ensure national stability.
He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to strengthening and supporting the council’s security architecture.
“The peace and progress in Ondo State and Ondo East rest on the foundation of a stable democracy. And defending that democracy requires a functional security outfit—well-trained and fully equipped.
“We will continue to support all security agencies in Ondo East for greater efficiency and effectiveness. Even the traditional institutions are very important in the fight against insecurity.
“So, we will do our best to continue to promote peaceful coexistence among our people and communities, and safeguard their lives and property,” he said.
Speaking on the broader national context, Ogunduyilemi noted that Nigeria continues to face multiple security challenges, ranging from terrorism and banditry to oil theft and cross-border criminal activities.
Despite financial limitations, he assured that his administration remains dedicated to following in the footsteps of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa by investing in the professionalisation of security agencies within the area.
