Ondo LG Polls: IPAC commends stakeholders for successful election

By Jubril Bada

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Ondo State, led by Prince Olaoluwa Adesanya, has commended the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) for the smooth and successful conduct of Saturday’s local government elections.

In a statement, Prince Adesanya applauded ODIEC Chairman, Dr. Aremo Joseph, for organizing an election widely regarded as free, fair, credible, and transparent.

He specifically praised the commission’s professionalism in addressing an unprecedented situation where a printing error necessitated the cancellation of an election in one local government.

ODIEC swiftly rescheduled and conducted the election within 24 hours, which Adesanya described as a testament to the commission’s dedication to democratic principles.

Adesanya highlighted the peaceful nature of the election, noting the absence of violence or casualties despite the high voter turnout across the state.

He attributed this to the collective discipline and maturity displayed by voters, political parties, and candidates.

He also acknowledged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s neutrality throughout the electoral process, stating that the governor’s impartiality fostered fairness and inclusivity, further enhancing the credibility of the exercise.

Furthermore, Adesanya praised the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in the state, under Engr. Ade Adetimehin, for maintaining political maturity and ensuring peaceful conduct by its members during and after the election.

He recognized the valuable contributions of opposition parties, whose participation and cooperation underscored the vibrancy of democracy in the state.

“Congratulations to all the winners of the election,” Adesanya said. “This victory is not just for the candidates but for democracy in Ondo State. The peaceful and credible conduct of the election reflects the collective efforts of all stakeholders involved.”
