Ondo NAWOJ begins week-long celebration with thanksgiving service

The Ondo State chapter of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has commenced its annual week-long celebration with a thanksgiving service, expressing gratitude for the journey thus far.
The service, held at Favour Generation Church, Fanibi, Ondo Road in Akure, brought together members of the association, media professionals, and well-wishers in a heartfelt atmosphere of worship and appreciation.
Speaking during the thanksgiving, Prophetess Titilayo Adeleye rejoiced with the women journalists and offered prayers for God’s continued guidance and protection over all journalists, especially women in the profession.
She praised their courage and resilience in navigating the rigours of journalism and pronounced blessings upon their careers, families, and the association as a whole.
She encouraged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to truth and service to humanity, assuring them that their efforts would not go unrewarded.
At the service, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Comrade Foluke Amodu, expressed her appreciation to the church for hosting the event and thanked all members for their presence and support.
She also acknowledged the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council, Prince Leke Adegbite, for gracing the occasion and for his unwavering support for NAWOJ.
Speaking to journalists after the service, Prince Adegbite commended NAWOJ for beginning their week of activities with spiritual reflection, noting that it reflects the association’s values and commitment to excellence.
The NAWOJ chairperson, Comrade Tola Gbadamosi, also gave thanks to God for sustaining the association and its members. She emphasised the importance of unity and professionalism among women journalists and described the thanksgiving as a meaningful way of appreciating divine guidance while seeking strength for the tasks ahead.
Several dignitaries graced the occasion, including the Erelu and Iyaloja General of Akure Kingdom, Chief (Mrs) Olufunmilayo Adekanye, and the Commandant of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye. They joined others in celebrating NAWOJ’s accomplishments and praying for greater strides in the year to come.
The NAWOJ Week continues with series of activities aimed at empowering women in journalism, fostering collaboration, and promoting professional development among female media practitioners across the state.
