Ondo NAWOJ inaugurates new exco

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Ondo State chapter has inaugurated new executives to pilot its affairs for the next three years.

Mrs Doris Olumoko of NTA Akure was returned unopposed as the chairperson, while Mrs Tola Gbadamosi of The Hope  also retained the seat of the vice chairperson.

Mrs. Tosin Ighoteguono of Positive FM, Akure emerged as the Secretary, Mrs. Adefisoye Ajayi of OSRC as Assistant Secretary, while Mrs Folasade Oladehinde of Information chapel produced the Treasurer and Mrs Olufisoye Adenitan of Positive FM as the Financial Secretary.

The National President of NAWOJ, Mrs. Ladi Bala conducted the inauguration ceremony at the Ondo NUJ Secretariat in Akure.

Bala who was represented by the National Financial Secretary, Mrs. Adeola Adekunle, commended the excellent performance of the  exco.

She enjoined the newly inaugurated executives to work in unity and build on the achievements of the association.

In his remarks, the State NUJ Chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite, pledged his support for the new administration and assured of the union’s commitment to prioritise the welfare of its women’s wing in taking decisions.

State Chairperson of international Federation of Female Lawyers, Mrs Jumoke Ogunjebi while conducting the swearing-in ceremony advised NAWOJ members to contribute constructively to the success of the new administration by giving beneficial ideas.

In her acceptance speech, Doris Olumoko thanked members for the confidence reposed in her to be returned as the chairman for one more term.

She assured of her readiness to further attract more developments to the association, noting that to whom much is given much is expected.

Olumoko noted that the outgoing executive were able to put the name of NAWOJ on the minds of people across the country through various empowerment programmes for the downtrodden.
