Three suspected members of a syndicate who specializes in tampering with and stealing prepaid meters have been arrested by the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ondo State Command.
The suspects identified as Kole Oladele, 42; Oluwasola Alimi,39 and Olumide Samuel, 52, were alleged of conspiracy, stealing, tampering, illegal possession of prepaid meters and selling same to unsuspected members of the public.
The Corps Public Relations Officer, Daniel Aidamenbor, in a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday, said the suspects were apprehended following a sustained intelligence and the flagging of some reported stolen prepaid meters by the Corps and BEDC.
He said one of the flagged stolen meters was recovered at the point of recharging it by the buyer.
Aidamenbor revealed that the statement of the buyer led to the arrest of the suspects in their residences in Akure.
” One of the suspects was arrested at Potoki street, opposite Idanre garage, Akure and the other two at Oda road, Akure.
“Two members of the syndicate are presently at large and effort is on to apprehend them,” he said.
The suspects, according to the spokesman, the suspects had already confessed to the commission of the crime and would be charged to court for prosecution.
