Ondo NSCDC records 1,953 cases in 2018

The Ondo State Security and Civil Defence Corps has said its operatives recorded no fewer than 1,953 criminal and civil reported cases in the year under review.
The state commandant of NSCDC ,Mr Pedro Awaili Ideba, who gave the figure told The Hope Metro that 27 of the cases were pipeline vandalism and bunkery related issues .
According to him, the command recorded 38 cases of critical infrastructure,40 rape, sex and assault, six illegal operation of private company guards in the sate and 212 cases of obtaining money under false pretenses (OBT) and fraud related matters.
Others include: 35 job racketeering, 77 cases of malicious damage of farm lands by suspected Fulani herdsmen, 224 juvenile delinquency and Child neglect matters, 586 cases of breach of agreement, Trust, conflict and 21 accident reported cases among others.
The NSCDC boss said the command under his supervision was able to achieve the feat through dedication of officers, intelligence gathering, adopting a proactive measures and cooperation between the agency and the general public partnership.
Pedro hinted that mutual synergy among security forces in the state has also helped in tackling crime related issues, adding that the command is determined to surpass the achievement of 2018 in this year of elections.
His words, “We will continue to do our best and make the state a crime free state.
“Our core mandate is to protect pipe line from being vandalized and also check bunkering activities.
“This, we have been able to do throughout last year. And we are ready to surpass that achievement and do better this year.
He thanked the media for being supportive in their quest to rid the state off criminals.
