The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo state council, has donated assorted gift items to children in the orphanage home in continuation of it’s week long activities which commenced last Sunday.
Making the presentation at the Orphanage home at Oba-Ile, in Akure North local government area, the State Chairman of the Union, Mr Adetona Aderoboye said the effort is to show the children love and to encourage them that the people share in their plights.
While observing that government alone cannot adequately cater for the children, Aderoboye said there was need to show them love and celebrate the Yuletide season with them .
He said the union sympathised with them and sees them as part of the society, urging Nigerians and other stakeholders to always remember them and extend hands of fellowship to them.
He appreciated the staff for taking care of them describing the children as pride of the society and leaders of tomorrow.
Receiving the gifts on behalf of the children, Mr Debo, thanked the union and prayed for God’s love and assistance.
Reacting on behalf of the ministry of Women Affairs, a Senior Social Officer, Olotu Adeyeoluwa said” “it is not the gift but the spirit behind the gift and remembering the children”.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Press Week Planning Committee, Mr Bisi Longe assured the children that they would surely attain the destiny God has for them and that they should not see themselves as inferior or different from others, but know that they are as important as their counterparts in the world.
