Ondo NYSC charges ‘Corpers’ to impact society positively

By Saheed Ibrahim

The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps in Ondo State, Mr. Sam Amaramiro Pepple, has urged members of the Corps to make a positive impact on society during their service year.

The Coordinator gave this charge during his address at the closing ceremony of the orientation course for the 2024 Batch ‘B’ (Stream II) corps members deployed to Ondo State.

Pepple, while acknowledging the discipline displayed by the corps members in overcoming the challenges and rigours associated with their training, encouraged them to fulfil the noble dreams and aspirations of the Scheme’s founding fathers.

He, therefore, enjoined them to imbibe and internalise the lessons learnt during the orientation course to serve as guiding principles throughout their service year and beyond.

“You must, therefore, put yourselves at the forefront of promoting our crusade for national re-orientation and rebirth, as enunciated by our dear President. You must also give impetus to our quest for a renewed sense of oneness in an egalitarian nation where no one is oppressed.”

The Coordinator assured the corps members that Ondo, the Sunshine State, is peaceful and that one of the government’s priorities is the safety of lives and property for all, irrespective of political, ethnic, or religious affiliations.

The NYSC Ondo State boss further revealed that the government had promised to strive, more than ever before, to ensure that corps members across the state receive special security attention.

“Nevertheless, you have a role to play by ensuring you are always identified as corps members and by avoiding association with miscreants and hoodlums,” he advised.

He urged them to accept their postings in good faith and make a lasting impact on the development and transformation of rural communities by embarking on projects that meet their immediate needs.

“Many of your predecessors have set enviable records in this regard, and you cannot afford to let them or the nation down. I urge you, therefore, to rededicate yourselves by making the best use of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in the service of our people,” he said.
