Parents of students in Ondo public secondary schools have expressed gratitude to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for approving payment of 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) fees of their wards.

Governor Akeredolu recently approved a total sum of N523,948,400 for a total number of 28,946 students in public schools across the state.

Reacting, Mrs. Sadia Akinduro thanked the governor for the gesture. “It is a form of blessing to us parents because we know the situation of things. We know what we pay for school fees and to buy materials.

“Many of us pay for extra lessons for the students to pass. This will lessen our burdens as parents and we are grateful,” she said joyfully.

Also, Mr. Bode Akinbinu said parents like him can channel their energy towards ensuring their children pass the exam in flying colours.

“I am grateful. I have two children writing WAEC this year. I am paying for their NECO and JAMB too.

“With what the Governor has done, I am relieved. I do not have to worry about WAEC again”, he stated.

Other parents that spoke with The Hope, including Mr. Akin Akinwale, Mrs. Grace Olaoluwa and Mr. Lanre Adeoye, could not hide their joy at the news.

“We are grateful and we do not take this for granted. No parent will hear such news at this economic period in the country and will not be happy,” said Mr. Adeoye.
