By Mary Agidi
The Ondo state Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Clement Faboyede has said that the party is intact and is fully prepared to take over the state come 2020 .
Faboyede who spoke with journalists shortly after the party’s stakeholders’ meeting affirmed that Ondo state is a PDP state, judging by the outcome of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state .
He noted that the stakeholders’ meeting which was the first after the 2019 elections was meant to rejig the party and review its challenges .
Faboyede described as untrue the insinuations in some quarters that the party failed to give adequate support for its House of Assembly candidates which led to their loss.
He however shifted the blame on manipulation of the poll with money.
He assured that the leadership of the party will soon meet with the candidates, saying their pains were understood.
Commenting on the Osun governorship election, the PDP chairman said the Court of Appeal judgement was based on technicality.
He therefore expressed optimism that the party will retrieve its mandate at the Supreme Court.
He added that it is not the policy of the party to zone governorship position, noting that the best candidate would be picked through a transparent primary irrespective of the political zone he emanates from.
He however restated that the Governor of Ondo state, Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is not romancing the party with contrary to the rumours spreading around.
