The Ondo State Police Command  has arraigned a 26-year-old businesswoman, Sydney Chinoso, in an Akure Magistrate’s Court, for allegedly defrauding another business woman of N7,464,000.

The defendant who resides at St Andrews Street, Port-Harcourt, River State was brought to court  on a lone count of fraud.

Police counsel, T.S Abisagbo informed the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 28, 2021 at Champion Junction, Akure.

Abisagbo alleged that the defendant obtained the sum of N7,464,500 from the complainant under the pretext of supplying his company, Domi Foods Ltd Akure, 300 bags of rice

The prosecution further alleged that Chinoso failed to supply the rice as agreed, but  converted the money to her personal use or the use of others.

He said the defendant was later arrested at her residence in Port-Harcout after the complainant reported the case to the police.

Abisagbo said the offence contravenes Section 390 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence against her.

Magistrate O.L Abu admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case till April 5, for hearing.
