Ondo police arrest 12 kidnapping suspects

The Ondo State Police command has arrested 12 suspected kidnappers operating on Idoan/Benin Owo and Akoko roads in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro made this known in an interview with The Hope Metro saying” the suspects were arrested in the forest of Idoani on Thursday at about 11pm.
“The arrest was made by some police officers and volunteer civilians in the locality. The moment that happened we pushed our men to the location together with other sister agencies as well as some brave civilians who joined the team.
They were apprehended following the abduction of a businessman, Mr Kunle Agbayewa at a popular sawmill in Idoani. Out of the 12 arrested, there were arrested on Wednesday while Nine others picked up yesterday.
Agbayewa was kidnapped barely 24 hours after the Chief Medical Director of the General Hospital, Idoani, Dr. Olufemi Adeogun, and two other health workers were abducted at a gunpoint around 4pm.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspects stormed the sawmill early in the morning and seized Agbayewa at gunpoint and ran into the bush.
Meanwhile, Chief Medical Director of Idoani General Hospital, Mr Olufemi Adegun and two others have been released.
They were left off the hook having parted with N3million as a ransom.
Adeogun was kidnapped on the bad portion of Owanile/Idoani road on Monday along with a record officer, Mrs Foluke Ajibola and another person yet to be identified.
The CMD’s driver was reportedly shot but escaped and was subsequently rushed to the hospital for treatment.
His abductors were said to have initially demanded for N100million before they eventually collected N3million.
