Men of the Yaba Division of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested three suspects in Ondo town in connection with a stolen motorcycle traced from Osun State.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, and made available to The Hope.
According to the statement, the arrest followed a report made on October 9, 2025, by one Tosin, a resident of Ile-Ife, Osun State, who reported that a red Bajaj motorcycle he gave to one Tope was forcefully snatched by unknown assailants, leaving the rider injured and hospitalised.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers of the Yaba Division launched a coordinated operation, which led to the recovery of the stolen motorcycle in Ondo and the arrest of three suspects, Uche Unwankwo, Afolabi Olabisi and Taye Akinmolayan
During interrogation, Akinmolayan, the only female among the suspects, reportedly gave conflicting accounts of how she acquired the motorcycle, quoting varying amounts ranging from ₦530,000 to ₦970,000, before eventually confessing to her involvement in the crime.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the motorcycle was forcefully taken in Ile-Ife and transported to Ondo, where it was intended to be resold.
The suspects are believed to be part of an inter-state syndicate operating across Osun, Ondo, and Edo States, specialising in the theft and resale of motorcycles.
According to the police spokesperson, the case has been transferred to the Tactical Investigation and Response Squad (TIRS) for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate.
The injured rider is said to be receiving medical treatment.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Adebowale Lawal, commended the officers of the Yaba Division for their swift response and professionalism
He assured the public of the Command’s determination to tackle crime and protect lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding and cooperative with security agencies in maintaining peace and order in the state.
