Ondo police deploy officers ahead NLC protest

The Ondo state commissioner of police, CP Abayomi Oladipo have deployed officer to strategic areas within the state to ward off miscreants who may want to hijack the Nigerian Labor NLC peaceful protest slated for February 27 and 28, 2024 in the state.
This was made known in a Press statement by the Police Public Relations Officer SP. Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, when he held a meeting with the Executives of the NLC in Ondo State ahead of the planned protest.
The CP invited the State Executives to a brief meeting. The meeting centered basically on how the protest will be conducted without infringing on the rights of law abiding residents and shun activities that may lead to breakdown of law and order.
The Chairman of NLC in the State, Comrade Victor Amoko said arrangements have been made to ensure the protest is peaceful and a letter has been written to the State Government to help with security during the protest.
He stated further that the protest is to enhance constructive criticism and robust dialogue on ways to move the country forward.
While assuring the labor leaders of the command preparedness to deal decisively with individuals who may want to cause breakdown of law and order.
The CP admonished the labour members to stick to their agenda which is peaceful protest and not allow it degenerate into breakdown of law and order under the pretense of hijack by fifth columnist.
Meanwhile, the CP has ordered immediate deployment of officers and men to strategic areas within the state to ward off miscreants who may want to hijack the protest to harass and intimidate law abiding residents of the state.
