Ondo promotes 1,800 teachers

To boost the morale and improve education at the primary school level, Ondo State government has promoted one thousand and eight hundred (1,800) primary school teachers in the state.

It was gathered that joy and happiness have enveloped the primary education sector of the state as a result of the gesture of the government.

The Hope gathered yesterday that the teachers affected were promoted after a rigorous screening exercise carried out by the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB.

It was also learnt that the promoted teachers were good in character and performed well in the examination and interview conducted for them.

The promotion letters were distributed three days ago to the teachers.

Speaking on the development, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Ondo State chapter, Mr. Victor Amoko lauded the state government for the kind gesture.

The chairman while speaking with The Hope in Akure said that the promotion was timely as it would boost the morale of the teachers in the state.

He described teaching profession as a noble one, a mother of all professions that should be accorded great priority by any government.

Amoko said further that the  promotion of teachers in the primary school sector will spur them to commit their knowledge and time in teaching pupils who are the leaders of tomorrow.

The NUT Chairman called on primary school teachers in the state to reciprocate the kind gesture of the state government by putting in their best in impacting knowledge on the pupils.

He asked them to be sure that their rewards would be on earth, stressing that their promotion was part of the reward and should guide it jealously to get another one.

He however called on them to put in their best,while those not promoted now should put in more efforts to get their own promotion.

Amoko called on the state government to recruit more teachers in the state.

According to him, education has improved under the government of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, but it can be further improved when adequate teachers with quality are recruited to man schools in the state.

He commended the chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, in the State, Princess Oladunni Odu for doing a good job in the primary education sector of the state.

He posited that the mass renovation of primary schools across the state will boost the morale of pupils and teachers and also help education to grow.
