The Ondo state government yesterday received doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from the Federal Government.
The Hope exclusively gathered that the vaccine was delivered yesterday evening through Akure Airport and received by officials and the Executive Secretary of Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Francis Akanbiemu, Permanent Secretaries of Ministry of Health and Hospital Management Board Dr. Dipo Durojaye and Dr Niran Ikuemola and the state Epidemiologist, Dr Stephen Fagbemi on behalf of the state government.
It was further learnt that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is expected to flag-off the vaccination today in Akure.
The Hope understands that the State government will soon commence the vaccinations in line with the scheduled guidelines laid down by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
Recall that last week, Nigeria took delivery of about four million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines as part of an overall 16 million doses planned to be delivered to the country in batches over the next few months.
