In a bid to revamp the healthcare sector within his constituency, the lawmaker representing Akoko Northeast/Northwest Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Ifeoluwa Ehindero, has restated his commitment to the improvement of health infrastructure across Akoko communities.
The federal lawmaker made this known on Thursday through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Blessing Akeju, following his assessment visit to the General Hospital in Ikare-Akoko, situated in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State.
During the visit, Ehindero stressed that health remains a top priority in both his legislative engagements and constituency projects.
“Health is the foundation of any prosperous society. Our people deserve dignity, access, and quality care,” the lawmaker said.
He described the visit as more than a routine tour, but a strategic engagement aimed at identifying pressing needs and offering immediate and long-term solutions.
“This visit is not ceremonial — it is strategic. We’re here to listen, to learn, and to act. Improving health infrastructure, boosting staff welfare, and ensuring availability of medical supplies will be central to our efforts,” he added.
Ehindero assured the hospital management of his commitment to back up the visit with concrete actions. He promised to initiate legislative support and forge partnerships with relevant health agencies, all targeted at achieving lasting improvements to the facility’s operations and infrastructure.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Idowu Ayodeji, who received the lawmaker, lauded the visit, describing it as timely and reassuring.
“This visit is timely and encouraging. It shows that we have a representative who listens and genuinely cares. We look forward to strengthened support to improve our capacity and service delivery,” Dr. Ayodeji said.
Also, patients and caregivers at the facility commended the gesture, describing it as impactful.
Among the beneficiaries of the lawmaker’s financial assistance during the visit was Folake Ajayi, a nursing mother receiving postnatal care, who could not hide her joy.
“I never imagined help would come this way. God bless our Honourable for remembering us. It gives us hope,” she remarked.
Ehindero’s visit is seen as part of a broader plan to strengthen healthcare delivery in rural areas of Ondo State, with a focus on sustainable infrastructure, staff welfare, and access to medical supplies.
