Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has signed the law effecting the name change of Ondo State School of Health Technology to Ondo State College of Health Technology, Akure.

The governor who was flanked at the ceremony by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Jibayo Adeyeye and the management staff of the college,  expressed satisfaction that the health sector was making progress in leaps and bounds under his administration.

Speaking to newsmen,  the Special Adviser on Health, Dr Jibayo Adeyeye said the development would qualify  graduates of the Ondo State College of Health Technology  for the National Youth Service Corps Scheme while the institution will  equally have the capacity to access the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) and other endowment funds to improve on its health courses and infrastructural facilities.

He recalled that the Ondo State School of Health Technology, Akure was established by the administration of  Chief Adekunle Ajasin which was the first civilian administration in the state, saying it is  heartwarming that Governor Akeredolu has now come to improve on the accessibility of the institution to train health technologists.

Adeyeye said the status scale-up of the institution and other landmark achievements of Arakunrin Akeredolu administration will ultimately,  in no distance future, make Ondo State the medical hub for training and  retraining of health professionals across cadres in Nigeria.
