The meeting, which was held as part of the party’s preparation for the forthcoming Local government elections across the state, took place at Ikare-Akoko, Akoko North/East Local Government Area of the State

While addressing participants, the party State Chairman,  Stephen Adewale said the purpose of the gathering was to have a round table discussion on the challenges facing the party and explore the possible ways of moving the party forward.

He appreciated them for their selfless service, support, and love in gearing the party to the next level.

The chairman assured the party chieftains that they would not relent in their efforts towards making the party an enviable one and a force to be reckoned with.

The leaders of the party at the various local governments discussed some of the problems facing them.

Many lamented that lack of finance has been the major setback for the party in the senatorial district.

They appealed to the state executive members  to address the problem.

Speaking with the newsmen, the party chairman in Ose local government, Mr. Oluyomi Taye, said “the  purpose of the meeting was to look into what really happened before, during and after the last election, the mistake that we made so that it could be corrected in the future.

He added that the meeting has helped them to highlight their various mistakes ahead of the forthcoming local government elections.”

Also speaking, the party’s Organising Secretary for Akoko South East Abeh Adedayo said, “today’s meeting is very essential and I can say after the meeting that there is hope with SDP, we have loose hope before but with what our state chairman and other state leaders did here today, we can all see that there is hope and future in SDP.”

He urged the party’s stakeholders to go back to the grassroots and make sure the mobilisation starts in earnest, even as he appealed to the leadership of the party at the state and the national to ensure that the party is properly funded.
