Ondo State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development (MPPUD), has sealed off two petrol stations in Akure for contravention of government policy.
The petrol stations are Farbas along Arakale road and Emadeb filling station, along Fiwasaye-Agbogbo Road, Akure.
The ministry has also began the removal of all kiosks and shanties erected around fences of all public schools in the state following the directive of the State Executive Council that no illegal attachments are permitted around public schools in the state.
The ministry has given owners of the kiosks and metallic containers by the entrance of Akure Airport seven days ultimatum to vacate.
Commissioner for the Ministry, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi, who led Enforcement Team of the Ministry to effect the seal order said the order is in line with the directive of the State Executive Council to protect pupils and students from unsuspecting kidnappers, miscreants and hoodlums who could use those structures as hiding places to perpetrate nefarious activities.
In the same vein, the Commissioner accompanied by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transport, . Tobi Ogunleye and officials of Ministry of Transport embarked on clearance of goods being displayed on pedestal walkway along Cathedral Church, Oba-Adesida, NEPA road in Akure.
Deaconess Fagbemi noted that clearing the walkways was aimed at achieving the urban renewal and modern physical planning of major towns and cities’ policy of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
She cautioned members of the public to always respond to the Demand Notice, Contravention Notice, Stop Work Order, pasted on their property by promptly coming to the ministry for clarification to avoid demolition machine of the government.
The Commissioner enjoined land owners, who intend to erect structures to come to the ministry to obtain necessary documents before embarking on such projects to avoid contravention penalty or prosecution by the government.
