Ondo, second best in polio eradication campaign

The Executive Secretary of the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Francis Akanbiemu has described the just concluded outbreak response (second round) campaign on polio eradication as an improvement on previous ones in the state.
He stated this yesterday while speaking with The Hope on the outcome of the exercise in the state in Akure.
Represented by the Director, Disease Control and Immunisation, Dr. Victor Adefesoye, he explained that the exercise was aimed at protecting children between the ages of 0 month – 5 years against subsequent attack of the infection.
According to him, the necessary training exercise for the immunization programme was given to key officials who later stepped it down in their various local government areas for effective implementation of the exercise in the state.
While commending the health workers for their optimal performance during the exercise, he noted that Ondo State has performed well according to the response from the national body saying ” the state is leading in terms of polio eradication campaign next to Lagos State. “
Dr. Akanbiemu who also commended the efforts of supporting partners at ensuring a successful exercise, appealed to health workers to be more dedicated to their duties in future activities.
Commending the state government for its huge investment in the health sector, he reiterated government’s resolve to continue to sustain a polio free status in the state.
