Ondo shines again at JETS competitions

The positive dispositions of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu  to education sector have again yielded results as the delegates from the state who participated in the Junior Engineer Technician and Scientists (JETS) held recently in Lagos won medals and trophies.

Receiving the trophies and medals in his office, the Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Pastor Femi Agagu attributed the successes recorded in education sector to the commitment of Governor Akeredolu.

Agagu said the efforts of the Governor at revamping the education industry was noticeable through the payment of counterparts funds which had enabled the state government to access the Universal Basic Education Fund for renovation of schools across the state.

He called for more collaborative efforts from stakeholders in the sector to sustain the leading positions at competitions noting that the successes may not also have been achievable   without team work of officials and judicious utilization of available funds.

Earlier,  while handing over the medals and trophies to the Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Rev. Akin  Asaniyan appreciated the State Governor and the Commissioner for providing an enabling environment for the  students to excel at both local and international competitions

The 22nd National JETS Competition which was held in Lagos recently had Master Akerejola Emeduduna from Ondo state as overall best.

In the entire competition, delegates from Ondo State won a total sum of 11 trophies, 12 medals and 14 gift items to lead other contestants from other states in the country

Asaniyan also used the forum to, on behalf the ministry, deliver a congratulatory letter to the Commissioner over the recent state government decision to immortalize the formal governor Dr, Olusegun Agagu by renaming Ondo State University of Science and Technology after him.

Another congratulatory letter was also delivered to the Commissioner for onward transmission to the wife of the former governor, Mrs Olufunke Agagu.

It will be recalled that the state government recently changed the name of the Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH) Okitipupa to Olusegun Agagu University of Science Technology (OASUTECH).
