Tragedy struck in the Oke Aro area of Akure, near the Dele Bread axis, as a nursing mother reportedly died while breastfeeding her baby.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman, said to be a yam seller, was seen earlier in the morning exchanging greetings with neighbours before sitting down to breastfeed her child.
“She suddenly began to complain of weakness and tiredness. In an attempt to regain her strength, she drank a bottle of Coca-Cola but collapsed and died on the spot,” an eyewitness recounted.
Some sympathisers at the scene suggested that her death might be linked to malnutrition or inadequate feeding, as she was believed not to have been eating properly.
She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but medical personnel on duty confirmed that she was brought in dead.
Her husband, a commercial driver, was said to have been contacted but had not returned home as of the time of filing this report, having left earlier for his daily transportation business.
Sympathisers trooped to the family’s residence, describing the deceased as calm, friendly, and hardworking
