Ondo Signage Agency, Environment Ministry partner to boost IGR

By Kemi Olatunde

The Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency, in the spirit of “one administration, one government,” has concluded arrangements to collaborate with the State Ministry of Environment to beautify the state and improve its revenue drive.

Chairman of the Agency, Hon. Akinwande Akinrodoye, while speaking during a meeting with the Ministry of Environment, stated that it is important to synergise with the Ministry to enhance the state’s aesthetics and boost revenue generation through the roundabouts.

According to him, the roundabouts in the state are constructed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and beautified by the Ministry of Environment. He noted that the Signage and Advertisement Agency ensures that advertisements placed on them generate revenue for the State Government.

Akinrodoye, while responding to the Ministry’s request concerning a reputable company that had approached the Ministry to beautify some roundabouts through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), stated that although the company would be assisting with the beautification, the Agency would still collect moderate and appropriate revenue for the government.

The Chairman thanked the Administrative Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Olumide Kinga, for deeming it fit to contact the Agency and assured the Ministry of the Agency’s readiness to partner for the development of the state.

He noted that a few companies have approached the Agency on similar matters and that the Agency has been receiving support and cooperation from them.

He also informed the meeting that signage charges are based on sizes in meters, adding that company charges would be relative to the size of the proposed roundabouts.

Speaking earlier, the Administrative Secretary of the Ondo State Ministry of Environment, Mr. Olumide Kinga, who led a team of Directors to the Agency, briefed the Chairman and other management staff on a proposal by a company to beautify a number of roundabouts in Akure metropolis through CSR.

Kinga explained that allowing the company to handle the beautification of the roundabouts would be a relief for the government and a source of revenue for the state through the Agency.

He promised that the Ministry would continue to partner with the Agency for the progress of the state.

The meeting, held at the Agency’s office, had in attendance the Administrative Secretary of the Agency, Mrs. Tayo Ogundare, and other Directors of the Agency.
