Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji has embarked on a renewable energy project with a view to facilitating regular power supply to towns and villages across the entire Ondo Kingdom.

The renewable power project which combines wind and solar energy is aimed at generating power supply to the nooks and crannies of the area.

The project is being executed in collaboration with an Indian company with a bilateral agreement of 40 and 60 percent respectively.

Under the agreement, the beneficiaries will meet up with 40 percent of the cost, while the foreign based company will meet up with the balance of 60 percent.

While speaking glowingly on the benefits of the project at a summit in Ondo city, Oladiji called on well-meaning indigenes of Ondo to key into it as an alternative to the epileptic power supply being experienced across the country.

He equally called on hoteliers, artisans and residents to key into the renewable power supply project as a way of repositioning their economic potential.

The Speaker who was optimistic that the power project will be replicated across Ondo State, solicited the support of the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Victor Kiladejo, towards ensuring the success of the programme.

Special Adviser to the Speaker on Energy, Tope Adegboye was optimistic of the massive economic benefits of the project in view of the positive feedback from communities that have already benefited.

The renewable power project has already taken off in some communities in Ondo East including Fagbo among others .

High Chief Lisa and Prime Minister of Ondo Kingdom, Chief Oguntimehin and the Sasere, High Chief Adeduro who both represented the Kabiyesi, spoke glowingly about the project, promising to mobilise for its success in view of its enormous benefits.

The occasion was graced by political associates of the Speaker, traditional rulers, artisans, bankers and professionals who believed that there is an end in sight to erratic power supply.
