Ondo student breaks UTME record

…scores 370 from 400 marks
History has been made in the educational landscape of Ondo State and Nigeria as 15-year-old Afolabi Olumide Ayodeji shattered a long-standing record in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), scoring 370, the highest mark recorded in over a decade.
For more than 10 years, no candidate nationwide has achieved this extraordinary feat. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) confirmed that no individual has scored 370 since at least 2013, making Afolabi’s achievement a true landmark in academic excellence.
Afolabi, an exceptional young scholar with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, has become the pride of a nation hungry for positive youth representation.
A student of Icons Comprehensive College, Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State, with his dedication, discipline, and academic prowess, has not only earned himself this incredible score but has also reignited a national conversation about nurturing young intellectual talent.
Speaking on his achievement, Afolabi expressed humility and gratitude, as he said, “I didn’t set out to break any record, I only wanted to give my best, I thank God, my parents, and my teachers for believing in me.”
This achievement has been described as a clarion call to educational stakeholders, mentors, and policymakers to invest deeper in identifying and supporting gifted students across the nation.
