Sound basic education has been described as the bed rock of human and society development.

The Chairman, Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr. Victor Olabimtan stressed this at the commissioning and handling over of new primary school annex at Leutu Farm settlement in Ondo East Local Government Area to the State Government.

Olabimtan, who was represented by Full Time Member -2 of the Board, Saka Yussuf Ogunleye said in recognition of the pivotal role basic education plays in the life of people, the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu paid the UBEC/SUBEB matching grants from 2013 till date.

According to him, this led to massive investment in the basic education sector in the State in the areas of construction and renovation of school infrastructures as well as providing pupils and teachers with furniture and instructional materials.

The Chairman, who commended the donor of the green field project, Abiola Makinde, member representing Ondo West and East Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, said the investment by Akeredolu-led administration in the basic education sector has helped in significantly reducing the number of out-of-school children in the State.

The SUBEB boss promised to do his best to ensure the school annex gets the necessary approval from the Ministry of Education so that the newly constructed school buildings are effectively used.

He appealed to residents of the community and adjoining settlements to bring their wards to the new school so that the essence for its establishment in their locality is not defeated.
