Ondo to hold primary schools sports final Wednesday

Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board , SUBEB, has concluded plans towards holding the final of Basic Education School Sports Competition as scheduled on Wednesday.
The SUBEB press officer in statement made available to Sporting Hope said the event billed to hold at the Sporting Arena of St Thomas Aquinas College School, ACA, Akure will see all the winners that emerged from Zonal Finals in both track and field events from the five Zones that made up the State; Akoko, Owo, Akure, Ondo and Okitipupa, slugging it out in order to pick the athletes that will represent Ondo State at the Regional Final in Ibadan and the National Finals Abuja before the end of the year.
The Director of Social Mobilization, Mr Julius Adebayo, disclosed that the learners that are winners were drawn from preliminaries and Zonal Levels of the competition in several sports such as Ludo, Ayo, Table Tennis, football and other tracks and field events.
According to BESS which is being sponsored by the Universal Basic Education Commission UBEC, Abuja in partnership with the State SUBEBs as a National Programme is taking place simultaneously in the 36 States in the country at the same time as scheduled.
The Director explained that the sporting competition was designed for learners in public primary schools to bring out the best in them since all works without play is not good for their cognitive and psychomotor development.
Expected at the event as Special Guests and Guest of Honor are the Commissioner For Education, Pastor Femi Agagu and the Executive Chairman of Ondo SUBEB, Victor Olabintan.
Others are SUBEB Permanent Secretary, Dele Akinnagbe, two Government Functionaries, Education Secretaries from the 18 Local Government areas and lovers of spots.
