Traders in Ondo state who applied for the Federal Government Trader Moni have begun to raise alarm on their inability to access the fund like their counterparts in Lagos, Oyo and Osun states respectively .

The Federal Government Traders Moni as it is called is a collateral- free loan targeted at petty traders and artisans which is part of the Nations Social Investment Programme under the government Enterprise and Endowment Programme, through which the Federal Government intends to bridge the credit gap and empower Nigerians at the grassroots.

Speaking with The Hope on the development, Mrs Toyin Akindele from Okitipupa, expressed her dissatisfaction on how the programme is being handled in the state.

Akindele, a widow with three children, who deals in fish business said she had supplied all the necessary information needed but was disappointed that nothing has happened ever since the visit of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to the state.

She believed that God will come to her aid if government refuses to do what it promised.

Also, Mrs Janet Benjamin Ojuetimi from Ilaje local government area of Ondo state said she was disappointed that disbursement is yet to be done several weeks after the vice President’s visit to the state.

Ojuetimi who is into Pupuru business said the coordinator for Ondo state daclared that the state is yet to receive the fund.

She urged the state government to expedite action to ensure that the state receives its share and to avoid lagging behind in the scheme .

Mrs Modupe Olakunle from Òwò,  who deals in Cocoa business said some people have benefitted from the programme and had been  paying back to  further enjoy the scheme.

In her words, government has the mantle decision to make it a reality or not.

She advised government to disburse the money if it is genuely meant for traders and not to politicise it as the general election draws near.

Efforts made to contact the  authorities in charge of the scheme proved abortive as at press time.
