Ondo Tribunal fixes Feb 25, for final Written Addresses

The Ondo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Akure has adjourned till February 25, for final Written Addresses by parties in the ongoing legal tussle filed by the People Democratic party (PDP), candidate, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, challenging the outcome of October 10 election.
Chairman of the panel, Justice Abubakar Umar, granted the request of parties in the petitions to enable them source for relevant records and file their replies on points of law to aid the proceedings.
Justice Umar granted the requests of the petitioners and respondents, following the closure of defence by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
At the proceeding, the 3rd and 4th respondents; Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and his elected deputy, Mr Lucky Ayedatiwa opened their defences, while the lead counsel Chief Olujimi, SAN, called the only defence witness, Mr. Dare Oketase, a legal practitioner and National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress.
Counsel to the petitioner, Mr Onyeachi Ikpeazu crossed examined, Mr. Oketase, on the role played by the Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mai Mama Buni.
Also during the proceeding, one of the counsels to the 2nd respondents, the APC, Chief Olusola Oke cross examined Okease.
Thereafter, the lead counsel for the second respondents, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, requested for an adjournment for the final addresses.
He stated that the former scheduled time for final addresses was between January 25 and February 3, 2021. But he however prayed the court to adjourn till February 15 or February 25, this year.
