The Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Seun Osamaye, has come to the aid of a struggling mother of newborn twins who was abandoned by her husband in Akure.
The incident was reported to the Commissioner by the Deputy Director of Planning, Mrs. Opeyemi Omowole, who revealed that the woman had been left to cater for her infants alone after her husband absconded.
Upon receiving the report, Dr. Osamaye promptly intervened to provide relief for the distressed mother and ensure that the twins were not left without care or support.
Dr. Osamaye noted that the intervention was part of the government’s broader policy of ensuring that no vulnerable woman or child is left unattended, particularly in cases of abandonment and hardship.
She further explained that the Ministry of Women Affairs is strengthening social welfare structures and creating emergency support channels for distressed families to access government assistance quickly.
The commissioner urged members of the public to promptly report cases of abuse, abandonment or neglect, stressing that the government remains committed to protecting women, children, and other vulnerable groups in Ondo state.
The mother expressed her gratitude for the swift response of the commissioner, describing it as a reflection of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration’s commitment to uplifting vulnerable women and children across the state.
