Ondo’s College of Health Tech gets Demonstration Clinic

As part of government efforts in  boosting health services and improve it’s indices in the state, Ondo State Government has put in place a Demonstration Clinic that will soon commence operation at the state’s College of Health Technology.

The Parmanent Secretary, Ondo State Hospitals Management Board, Dr Adeniran Ikuomola while leading a team of directors of the  board to inspect the facility last Tuesday noted that the clinic  will serve the training needs of students of the school and also communities around the school.

According to him,  the clinic will enhance the quality of training of the students saying “this will on the  long run make them better health workers when fully trained, which in turn will boost health care delivery in the health sector.”

The school’s Provost, Dr Felix Olawoye while speaking stated reasons for the establishment of the clinic to include; keying into the vision of the Governor in making qualitative healthcare available to residents of the State,providing quality low and medium manpower for Health Facilities in the State among others.

He described the Clinic as a mini Teaching Hospital to train students of the school so as to enable them have a mastery of their profession before they graduate from the school.

Dr Olawoye also disclosed that a Nutrition Clinic is being built around the clinic to advise the public on their nutritional needs and harmful food to avoid, noting that the initiative is to protect residents from various diseases arising from wrong eating habits.

In a related development, the College of Health Technology has conducted a Computer Based admission test (CBT) for those seeking admission into the school for 2019/2020 academic session.

The Provost of the institution ,Dr Felix Olawoye while speaking after the exercise hinted that about one thousand, three hundred and fifty candidates are competing for one thousand one hundred  spaces.

Dr Olawoye who said the college is the 1st School of Health Technology in Nigeria to conduct computer based test for new entrants, said CBT is cost effective and does not give room for fraud as applicants get their results before leaving the  computer lab.

He added that the school is about starting Ordinarily National Diploma (OND) in Nutrition and Dietetics as applicants are coming in through JAMB.
