Ondo’s First Lady bags The Sun Newspaper’s Award

The Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has joined imminent personalities within and outside the state to celebrate his wife and First Lady of Ondo State, Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu as she was conferred with The Sun Newspaper’s Most Supportive First Lady Year 2020 award.
Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the Initiator of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN), through her several other progressive Initiatives, including Bemore, FOWOSO, Ondo Widows Care, Solayo Birth Kits and Vanguards, Ondo Summer Tennis Clinic, brought incredible support for governor Akeredolu-led administration, which army of women, girls and youths, in general, are proud beneficiaries.
The colourful 18th edition of the Sun Awards, was organized by the Sun Publishing Limited, Publishers of The Sun Newspapers.
Governor Akeredolu led his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa; the Chief of Staff, Chief Olugbenga Ale; Business Mogul, Chief Rotimi Ibidapo and sons and daughters of the Akeredolu family to honour and rejoice with the First Lady at the well attended event.
Akeredolu said he adorned The Sun Newspaper award as it means a lot to him.
The Governor who specifically lauded his wife for her uncommon passion and love for the girl child and women, equally appreciated her for her immense contributions and supportive roles towards the development of the state and the people.gnise that means a lot to me.
“As a Governor of Ondo State, I know her efforts, I know the sleepless nights she keeps, I know whatever she does she believes in it strongly. Immediately she got to Ondo State she had interest in girl child”, he emphasised.
Showcased at the event were some of the reasons why the First Lady of Ondo State was honoured by The Sun Newspapers which include: her commitment to the development of the Girl-child through the use of Technological values; her unrelenting awareness on periodic testing for cancer by which the ailment has been demystified as a killer through BRECAN and her advocacies for women empowerment and their all-round development.
In her response, the First Lady who thanked The Sun Publishing Limited for deeming her worthy of the award among other deserving First Ladies in the country said that the award was a testimony that the society was taking note of her efforts and encouraging her to do more.
Mrs Akeredolu, who maintained that the reward to make Nigeria and the world at large a better place lies in touching people’s lives positively, added that the Office of the Governor’s Wife should not be for fanfare but must be used to compliment the efforts of the Governor.
Twenty Four other eminent Nigerians also bagged awards at the event.
In separate responses, the State Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale, Mrs Morenike Alaka and Mrs Toyin Adegbenro, who appreciated The Sun Newspaper for recognising the great exploit of Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu equally congratulated the First Lady on the well deserved award.
